Roya Rahnejat (Risk)

Having completed my BSc in Mathematics with Management at Imperial College London, I went on to do an MSc in Risk Management & Financial Engineering.  Although the course was very much focused on Risk Management within the banking sector, the knowledge and skills could be easily transferable to the insurance industry. I saw it as a great opportunity to pursue a career in risk management within the insurance industry as this is developing and has potential for growth. Working within Risk Management at Aspen had the added bonus of being recognized externally for its strong enterprise risk management.

One of the factors which made Aspen more attractive for me was its relatively small size, as I believed that it would provide the opportunity to gain a more tailored graduate programme as opposed to one on a mass scale as well as creating a better opportunity to obtain more responsibility.

Aspen has a generous study support policy which encouraged me to take the CII exams. This qualification along with the on-the-job training I receive within my team have enabled me to understand the business well. Rotations are available for graduates to have a better understanding of the different areas of business. I have been on a steep learning curve since joining Aspen and have found my work to be both challenging and quite diverse. 

I appreciate the fact that as an Aspen employee I have an excellent work-life balance. The Sports and Social committee organizes various events throughout the year which gives Aspen a fun atmosphere and makes it a great company to work for.
